This Is What the Game Writes

100 generations — endured to the last page

In the dying light of the world's memory, when the last stars have grown cold and the archives crumble to ash, there remains the story of a bloodline that endured for a hundred generations.

They were survivors, these children of shadow and ambition. Not heroes in the manner of songs, nor villains in the way of simple tales, but something more complex and terrible: a family that refused to die.

38 generations — fell at the last stand

The bloodline of Firemic built its seat in a place they called the Iron Vault, which tells you everything about how they understood the world: as a place to store things.

Thirty-eight generations of warriors and diplomats and scholars and something in between, all of them depositing themselves into the same account, certain that what they were accumulating was legacy. What they were accumulating was weight.

30 generations — fell to plague

The Ashvane bloodline endured for thirty generations on the black ridge of Erebane, which is to say it endured for approximately as long as it took the world to notice them and arrange its response. They were feared, then respected, then feared again, which is the usual pattern for families who confuse the two.

What they left behind: one sword, forged from siege iron in the third generation; one ledger, recording debts that outlived both creditor and debtor; one crown, bought and sold and reclaimed and lost again like a coin flip with no resolution.

1 generation — abandoned

There are dynasties that burn. There are dynasties that drown. And then there are dynasties like House Gravesong, which did none of these things, because there was only ever one of them, and at some point they simply — stopped. Not fell. Not failed. Stopped. The account was open. The depositor walked away.
